School Subcommittee Sends Title IX Policy and School Choice Vote to Full Committee

NORTH ATTLEBORO — March 22, 2022 — North Attleborough school subcommittee advances Title IX policy and school choice program to full board. A School Committee subcommittee voted unanimously Tuesday to send two items to the full School Committee for action in April: a new Title IX sexual harassment policy drafted with guidance from student services attorney Katie Minot, and a continuation of the district's high school school choice program. The district handled roughly seven Title IX investigations this school year, up from a typical average of one or two, the presenting administrator said. The school choice program enrolled six new students this year across grades nine through eleven, generating approximately $19,000 in additional state reimbursement. The subcommittee also received a curriculum briefing on plans to adopt StudySync for grades six through eight and Wonders for elementary grades — both McGraw Hill programs — covering kindergarten through grade eight for an estimated five to six years using existing ESSER funding; no vote was required on the curriculum.
