Two Plainville Residents Compete for One King Philip School Committee Seat

NORTH ATTLEBORO — March 24, 2022 — Two Plainville candidates face off for a single one-year King Philip Regional School Committee seat in the Monday, April 4 town election. Gregory Waymire, a technical writer and Plainville Local Housing Authority vice chair, and Joseph Cronin IV, a Marine Corps veteran and elevator repair technician, both cited rising school costs — including an 8 percent jump in health insurance premiums this year — as the defining challenge of the seat. Waymire argued the regional structure protects King Philip from unilateral cuts by any one member town, noting that two of the three member communities must agree to any budget reduction. Cronin, whose wife is simultaneously running for the Plainville Elementary School Committee, said he wants to serve as "the path of least resistance for the parents back to the board."
