NORTH ATTLEBORO — July 23, 2024 — North Attleborough Board of Health adopts its first bodywork establishment regulation and grants the town's first body art apprentice license. The board voted unanimously July 23 to approve rules and regulations for bodywork establishments and practitioners, effective September 30, 2024 — filling a gap in local oversight for businesses that offer body treatments not already licensed by the state as massage establishments. The regulation came after multiple drafts and a last-minute delay from the police chief, who expressed support but said his department, occupied with a shoplifting investigation, could not meet until August; the director said she would instead coordinate with the detective unit's Lieutenant Mooney. In the same session, the board approved a change-of-ownership adult-only tobacco permit for Hardik Raval at Cigars and More, 540 Cahill Boulevard, contingent on a health agent inspection and valid through January 31, 2025, and granted the first body art apprentice license in town history to Courtney Isabel at Lash Lounge, valid through April 30, 2025. The director also reported that state mosquito surveillance has detected West Nile virus in neighboring Attleboro and Seekonk, though North Attleborough remains classified as low risk.
