Tri-County School Committee Unanimously Adopts $21.1 Million FY2023 Budget

NORTH ATTLEBORO — March 16, 2022 — Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical School Committee unanimously adopted a $21.1 million fiscal year 2023 budget during a public hearing Wednesday. Business Manager Damien Haynes presented the $21,098,684 gross budget — a 2.56 percent increase over the prior year — noting that Chapter 70 state aid will rise by only $26,880, or 0.47 percent, the statutory minimum. The committee also certified member-town assessments of $14,364,884 and voted to appropriate $150,000 from the district's excess and deficiency account. A transportation contract renewal from Holmes Transportation came in nearly 15 percent higher, rising from $993,000 to $1,123,200 for the district's 16-bus fleet, with Haynes attributing the jump to a driver shortage and diesel fuel delivered at $5.22 per gallon. The committee separately approved a $9,050 overnight trip to Houston for student teams selected as finalists in the NASA HUNCH prototype engineering competition.
